and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our
society, a life free of violence and fear.” -Nelson Mandela

OURVISION:
AMI is the manifestation of an affirmative vision for boys and young male adults, who are so often maligned or labeled as “at risk.” Motivated by concern for the alleviation of human suffering; AMI endeavors to foster the social-emotional and intellectual development of children and young adults who are striving to overcome adversity and obstacles affecting their quality of life.
OURMISSION:
Our mission is to provide constructive vehicles through which boys and young men can voice their concerns, overcome obstacles and change circumstances both individually and within their schools and communities. AMI’s mission is to build bridges of collaboration with grassroots organizations, city and state agencies and national programs, to act as a resource and referral medium, and to ultimately build a collective intervention to resolve many of the challenges young males encounter in today’s society. Our continuing mission is to develop and run structured programs that actively improve, measure, and achieve positive results.
OURVALUES:
The way we treat others shows how we value them as people. Every member of AMI and its participants are expected to treat individuals in a way that will advance the spirit of good relationships and contribute to the well-being of everyone; without distinction of any kind, such as race, sex, language, religion or social origin.
Community service, a commitment to excellence, respect for diversity, decent professional behavior, team work and an expectation for positive outcomes in all our affairs is expected of every member and participant of AMI. These core values encourages striving toward the highest possible standard of conduct in our programs and business processes.
“If we work upon marble, it will perish; if we work upon brass, time will efface it; if we rear temples, they will crumble
into dust; but if we work upon immortal minds and instill into them just principles, we are then engraving that
upon tablets which no time will efface, but will brighten and brighten to all eternity.” -Daniel Webster
